About JS Chen's DimSum & BBQ
JS Chen's DimSum & BBQ is a chinese restaurant in Plano, Texas. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–10:45 pm. It is closed on Tuesday. Plano is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Plano follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Our group of 13 made a reservation well in advance for September 6 at 6:00 PM. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a disappointing dinner. This restaurant used to be very popular and reputable for many years. That is why we did not even check the reviews when we decided to go. We were surprised to learn that it had a new owner 5 months ago (ownership change is certainly not uncommon), but we were shocked by the service and especially the food quality. We had a cold platter but the barbecue pork was overheated and over-burnt; it tasted like dried meat. We also ordered a Gui Fei chicken. It took a long time to arrive. Finally when it came, we were told only half a chicken was available. That was not a problem either. Then, everyone started reporting that the chicken was not fresh and smelled off. We think food quality is of utmost importance as poor quality can cause health issues. We sincerely hope that the new owner will take this matter seriously before more problems arise.

Two days ago, a group of more than ten of us had dinner there. We were extremely disappointed with both the services and the food quality; the service was incredibly slow since there was only one server who was also working as the cashier in the evening (6PM-9PM). The food was no quality. First, our dinning room was too hot, and it wasn't until we repeatedly asked that they realized the AC wasn't on. After sitting down, we asked for a glass of water each (ice or not), but after a while, the server didn't bring us water; instead, she brought a teapot and teacups. We told the server that some of us didn't drink tea in evenings, and she finally replaced the tea with water. The food was served very slowly, and the quality was poor. One chicken dish, in particular, with spoiled (with unpleasant smell) chicken pieces. The chef verified that and allowed us to return the dish. A couple years ago, this restaurant provided excellent services and food. That's why we selected this one for our reunion. Now with a new owner, the restaurant has completely changed. We are all extremely disappointed with this restaurant now.

This is terrible. Not only we wait for 1 hour for pick up order. The food is not fresh, it is wholesale frozen dim sum, and it is being reheat. Meaning that they had steamed it multiple times, probably from yesterday or even before. This is ridiculous and it’s not how you do business. And it shouldn’t been considered as real Chinese/cantonese food!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I almost decided not to come because of some of the recent reviews, but I’m glad I gave this place a chance and judged it for myself. My family and I came here for dim sum this weekend and had a very enjoyable experience. We ordered har gow, siu mai, BBQ pork buns, roast duck, and a few other dishes. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the flavors were exactly what we expected from a traditional dim sum restaurant. The har gow had a nice texture, the siu mai was flavorful, and the roast duck was surprisingly good. The restaurant was busy when we arrived, which is usually a good sign. Despite that, the staff remained polite and checked on us throughout the meal. Food came out at a reasonable pace and we never felt ignored. What stood out to me is how different my experience was compared to some of the recent negative reviews. I’m not saying every restaurant is perfect every single day, but sometimes reading online reviews makes it sound like people visited a completely different place. Based on my visit, the food was fresh, the service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. I’ve learned over the years that online reviews can be helpful, but they don’t a

Very few things went well or were ok. Jasmine tea was served piping hot and that started off our meal well. But things fell down after that. We ordered dim sum but everything seemed to be delayed and lots of angry conversations of staff with other customers put us on alert that things were not going smoothly inside The dim sum that was served was just luke warm and quality of dishes were not good. Portions too were not great . The XLB was served very very late and that too was not made well. Ambience was dull , sleepy and cold everywhere. Tables and condiment trays were unclean and all that made us decide not to return
